Board of Directors

As a member-owned cooperative, Sumner-Cowley Electric ensures that every member has a voice in decisions that shape our cooperative and communities. Our seven-member Board of Directors is elected by members to represent each geographic district, with directors serving three-year terms.

Board decisions directly impact our members—from setting policies and rates to planning system improvements that enhance reliability and service. These decisions help keep electricity affordable, support local organizations, and strengthen the rural area we serve.

Directors are nominated by petition in accordance with cooperative bylaws.  Board elections are conducted by mail-in ballot, with results announced at the Annual Meeting. Terms are rotated by district, ensuring at least one seat is up for election each year.

Board meetings are typically held on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

Through member-driven leadership, we continue building on our past while lighting the way to the future.
