Sumner-Cowley Electric's Annual Meeting
Sumner-Cowley Electric held its 2017 Annual Meeting on March 10, 2018 at the Wellington High School. More than 500 members, guests and employees enjoyed lunch catered by Hog Wild Pit BBQ and 260 members were present for the meeting.
Guest speakers included the 2017 Youth Tour winner Veronica Smart and 2017 Leadership Camp winner, KyLee Pray. Smart and Pray shared some of their experiences and thanked the cooperative and its members for providing them with these opportunities.
The 2018 Youth Tour and Leadership Camp winners were introduced. Dominc Jirak, Udall, will represent Sumner-Cowley at the Leadership Camp in Colorado and Braden Struble, Wellington, will represent the cooperative at the Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.
Scholarships were awarded to 21 local students with each scholarship recipient receiving $500, bringing the total to more than $70,000 in scholarship money distributed through the co-op's scholarship program to date.

Re-elected to the board were Keith Leddy and John Schon. Gabe Schlickau was newly-elected, taking the place of Max Lowrey who retired from the board.
General Manager Cletas Rains thanked Lowrey for his 30 years of service to the board and presented him with a retirement gift.
